Over twenty years ago a small group of dedicated spiritual students sought to locate a parcel of land within the sanction of the Gobean Star, the center of the Golden City of the Blue Ray. Our mission was to find a large enough tract to build several homes for our members, but our primary goal was to establish and build a Spiritual Center and Retreat. This center would focus on spiritual practice and holistic healing modalities, along with establishing a small community kitchen with vegetable and herb gardens, seasonal orchards, and a year-round greenhouse. We searched for land that had access to plenty of water–with a creek or spring, a small lake or pond. A tall order for land in the Southwest!
Wenima Valley
Our divine request was answered when we located a 300-plus acre parcel in the White Mountains, a bit larger than we had anticipated but adjoining a dedicated Wildlife Area (Wenima Wildlife Area) through which the Little Colorado River flows. We decided that the extra land could be developed by like-minded spiritual seekers or held for our future generations – the prophesied New Children.
Our Spiritual Mission
Our purchase of the property presented challenges, as most spiritual missions do, yet our founding members remained undaunted, and we ploughed through the obstacles. Our group faced difficulty as a test of our collective spiritual mettle, and through sacrifice, hard work, and sheer grit settled the final stage of the land acquisition in 2016. In the course of twenty years, we have had the privilege to work with amazing legal and land professionals, surveyors and engineers, alongside remarkable seers and sages: Feng Shui consultants, Hindu pandits and Native American shamans, revered saints and Masters, plus everyday people who pray for and visualize a better world through the development of spiritual community. Notably, this extraordinary process wove a deep and intimate relationship with the land, her indomitable spirit, and the Ancient Ancestors and Nature Kingdoms who love and protect her.
Wenima Stewards
Our next phase of stewardship for this project seeks a new group of dedicated visionaries. This could include like-minded spiritual groups, wildlife conservation and/or archaeological groups and compatible associations. The Wenima Valley narrative is sensitive to wildlife and ecological preservation, its provenance with ancient native peoples, sustainable lifestyle practices, protection of the natural environment, and harmonious spiritual Oneness – the Evolutionary Biome.
The Natural Flow of Energy
Wenima Valley Energy Map and commercial Feng Shui Report(s) (2013 – 2016), are available with completed preliminary home designs and planning. The land's energies have been thoughtfully activated and balanced through the Feng Shui Calibration Method. This Taoist healing method redistributes the land's energies that flow alongside identified energetic points and the sacred geometry of Wenima Valley. Several unique geological landforms identified are a Sheela Na Gig — used for meditative physical rejuvenation, and an Ascension Pa'kua where practitioners can further cultivate their spiritual Mastery. A Tibetan Windhorse ceremonial site is present on Parcel One. The Windhorse is the discipline of warriorship and detachment, and is located in Wenima Valley where wild, elemental energies are harnessed for higher purpose. This spiritual process removes negativity and channels the wind of goodness. It is claimed the four virtues of the Windhorse are love, compassion, joy, and equanimity.
"Living Here Will Be Like Living in Heaven"
Through the years of learning and applying Feng Shui principles, our group met several consultants, each with unique skillsets and practiced schools of disciplines from Flying Stars to Ba Zhai (Eight Mansions). Since each acre of Wenima presents dynamic valleys, canyons, and rock formations, we worked extensively with practitioners of landform; skilled Masters of what's known as Form School. Wenima lies in a hidden valley that is packed with silent, commanding power and its secrets are revealed through spiritual development and merit. Wenima Valley, however, draws energies from an even more influential and important infrastructure of potent energy—three dragon systems (mountains) that step down vital, nourishing energies to the river valley. When touring Wenima in early 2001 with our Taiwan-based consultant, she immediately identified two important landforms: one for the Sun and another for the Moon. She added, speaking in Chinese through her translator, "Living here will be like living in heaven." This exact phrase was repeated word-for-word, over a decade later, during Mother Karunamayi's 2013 visit. However, this time the phrase was spoken in Telegu, the Indian Saint's native language.
Spiritual Energetics
A Hindu Homa, for religious fire ceremony, was built on the land in 2010 and is the location for various land blessings performed from 2010 to 2019 with traditional Hindu Pandits, (Shiva Vishnu Temple, San Diego, CA). These ceremonies include: Bhumi Puja, Sudharshanna, and Nava Graha. Parcel One is also the location of a self-born Shiva Lingam, (identified by Mother Karunamayi, considered an Earthly incarnation of Divine Mother and revered spiritual teacher, 2014). A Shiva Lingam is a natural formation, often a rounded, oblong stone or rock that contains the seed of the Universe—the beginingless and endless nature of Shiva—the Absolute. There are thousands of lingams throughout India, but there are known to be only twelve self-born Shiva Lingams in India. The Wenima Shiva Lingam is one of the first identified in North America, and a Shiva Lingam emanates a continuous blessing to the property and its inhabitants. This is a prime location for a Spiritual Temple or Pilgrimage location. Parcel One also holds two sacred bundles – ceremonially placed by a local and well-known Navajo Shaman and Medicine Man, Dennison Tsosie.
Quetzalcoatl Energy
Adjacent to Parcel One is the site where an effigy of the water serpent, Quetzalcoatl, once stood. From May 2010 through December 2012, crystal skull priestess Lembal, so designated and named by Mayan Timekeeper Hunbatz Men, performed ceremonies upon the land to anchor the Quetzalcoatl Energy for a reactivation and revitalization of ancient protective energies. In May 2021, twelve years after the first crystal skull ceremony to anchor this ancient energy, we discovered a recently acquired serpent effigy, originally from the Hooper Ranch Pueblo, at the City of Springerville Heritage Museum.
The Wenima Statue of Quetzalcoatl
The Hooper Ranch Pueblo Sun Dagger Shrine Revisited – Revealing Greater Regional Significance, by John A. Ruskamp, Jr., Ed.D. (updated 2018): "Years before the Field Museum's 1960-61 archaeological excavation of the Hooper Ranch Pueblo (Martin et al. 1961) a very large serpentine statue, embellished with a pair of carved eyes, nostrils, a 'blow hole,' and a slightly smiling mouth was removed from the site of the pueblo (Knight 2012). The features of this massive ancient effigy are recognizable as those of the great Mesoamerican water serpent, Quetzalcoatl, a fact confirmed by professional archaeologist Doug Gann, Ph.D. The Zuni people of North America refer to this water serpent god as Kolowisi, and the Hopi call it Palulukang. Even into modern times, Native tribes continue to direct their prayers and rituals to the water serpent for the blessings of rain and snow. For many years, this carved stone effigy of Quetzalcoatl was on public display outside of the Becker Mercantile Company in Springerville, Arizona. Demonstrably, the very size of this statue indicates that it was of particular importance to the ancient people who created it. However, its prior existence upon the Hooper Pueblo ruins was not revealed to the Field Museum archaeologists and they make no mention of it in any of their reports.” (Download PDF below.) The statue now holds a place of honor at the City of Springerville Museum.
A New Generation
As our founding group enters our senior years, we are excited to mentor yet another new generation of Wenima Stewards. The hardest work is complete. We won’t be far away. We plan to be across the valley as we realize the building of the Wenima Spiritual Center– a community spiritual and healing center meant for all of us who love Wenima. May our precious “Walk in Beauty,” continue.
“Happily may they all return,
In beauty I walk.
With beauty before me, I walk.
With beauty behind me, I walk.
With beauty above and about me, I walk.
It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.”
